Managing Electrical Safety - Principles of Electricity and Its Effects (ROSPA Endorsed)

This course will enable the learner to understand the principles of electricity, and its effects on the human body. This eLearning provides awareness education. Face-to-face training, coaching, or supervision would be needed in addition in order to complete the all-round skills and knowledge to be able to carry this forward practically in your organisation. The duration of this course is 20 minutes and can be completed over multiple sessions. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to: • Explain the terms ‘voltage’, ‘current’, and ‘resistance’ • Explain the operation of Ohm’s Law • List the voltages and currents normally encountered in UK electricity supplies • List the factors relating to electric shock • Describe what happens when an electrical current passes through a human body • List and explain the hazards of electricity as identified in The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
